Incessant monsoon rains have unleashed severe flooding across Assam and Gujarat, killing over 100 people combined and causing widespread disruption. In Assam, over 5.24 lakh residents remain affected across five districts, with 763 villages submerged and nearly 48,742 hectares of cropland damaged. Meanwhile, in Gujarat, the death toll has surged past 56—including 21 deaths in Navsari alone—following heavy torrents that inundated urban hubs like Ahmedabad, Valsad, and Morbi. Joint operations by the Indian Army, NDRF, SDRF, and local authorities have evacuated over 7,000 citizens, highlighting persistent vulnerabilities in drainage planning and disaster preparedness.
