Varanasi Ropeway 96% Complete: 16-Minute Ride From Cantt To Godowlia, Likely From December

Varanasi’s ambitious urban ropeway project is nearing completion, with 96% of the construction work reportedly finished. The 3.85-km route will connect Cantt railway station with Godowlia in around 16 minutes, compared with 30–45 minutes by road. The ₹807-crore project will have five stations and 148 gondolas, each designed to carry 10 passengers. The full journey is expected to cost ₹50. Trial runs have reportedly begun, and passenger services may start in December, subject to official clearance.
