

Mumbai's famous Shree Siddhivinayak Temple which is thronged by lakhs of devotees every month, has opened a demat account to offer its devotees a new facility to donate shares of listed companies.
In the beginning the platform will only allow offerings in the form of shares of listed entities, but in future it will cover other financial instruments such as mutual funds, bonds, gold exchange traded funds etc.
The devotees can now avail the benefit and donate actively traded shares and securities to Shree Siddhivinayak temple, Central Depository Services (India) Limited said in a release.
Last year, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) had opened a demat account to accept donations in the form of shares and securities which is reportedly receiving encouraging response from devotees, the release said.
The temple Trust has opened its demat account through SBICAP Securities Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SBI Capital Markets Ltd.
