Maruti's Hybrid Baleno spotted in an Indian facilityMaruti Suzuki has began the production of a new Balenovariant. The Baleno SHVS is a mild-hybrid system that will bring the model inthe league of other hybrids offered by Maruti. So far, the company has producedthe Ertiga and Ciaz with the same technology.

According to a report by Car & Bike, Maruti's new Balenowas spotted in the flesh at an Indian facility but it was reserved for exportmarkets. The European markets will get the SHVS in the petrol variant of the1.2-litre DualJet engine whereas India will most likely get it in the dieselvariant.
The SHVS technology (Smart Hybrid Vehicle) is a mild hybridsystem that will help boost the mileage marginally but will classify the car inHybrid category and hence qualify for the FAME subsidy offered by thegovernment. The car will get an additional discount of Rs 13,000 with thissubsidy.

The technology has helped Maruti Diesel cars with the sameengine to churn out a mileage of more than 28km/l. Which has been a decidingfactor in increasing the sales of these specific models. The current 1.3-litrediesel engine variant has claimed an ARAI mileage of 27.39km/l.
Maruti will also be launching a new RS variant of Balenowhich will feature a 1.0-litre BoostJet engine. The launch is scheduled forFebruary 2017. The hybrid version, however, is not confirmed to release anytimesoon as the company is struggling with the back-logs in production and longwaiting periods. The SHVS model is expected to increase the demand further.
