A video of a foreign traveller walking viewers through the Vande Bharat Sleeper train has gone viral on social media — with the traveller describing India's newest overnight train as nothing less than a "five-star hotel on rails."

The video shows elegant cabins, modern lighting, spotless washrooms and thoughtfully designed sleeping berths — replacing the overcrowded image many foreigners previously associated with Indian trains, with something that looks far closer to a European luxury sleeper.

The traveller highlighted the train's safety features, privacy in sleeping cabins and the cleanliness of washrooms — eventually comparing the train's overall ambience to a luxury hotel rather than a traditional overnight rail experience.

This is not the first time international visitors have praised India's modern trains. Earlier in 2026, a German traveller described the regular Vande Bharat Express as "genuinely impressive" — highlighting its smooth ride, punctuality and onboard meal service in a video that also went widely viral.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper has been designed for long-distance overnight journeys with AC First Class, AC 2-Tier and AC 3-Tier options. Key features include hotel-inspired interiors, ergonomically designed sleeping berths, automatic doors, bio-vacuum toilets, sensor-based water taps, CCTV surveillance, reading lights and charging ports.

For years, viral videos of overcrowded trains shaped how people outside India viewed the country's railways. The Vande Bharat Sleeper's reception among international travellers is actively changing that narrative — positioning Indian Railways alongside Japan's Seven Stars and Europe's famous luxury sleeper trains.
