What ₹2.99 lakh buys instead of an iPhone Duo: Gold, a Himalayan 440 or two MacBook Airs

Apple has priced the 256GB iPhone Duo at ₹2,99,900 in India. The foldable phone also comes in 512GB, 1TB and 2TB versions, with pre-orders opening on October 16 and sales beginning on October 23.

At a quoted 22-karat rate of ₹14,113 per gram on September 10, ₹2,99,900 equalled roughly 21.25 grams of gold. This is a straight price comparison before GST, jewellery-making charges or dealer differences—not an investment recommendation.

Royal Enfield lists the Himalayan 440 from about ₹2.29 lakh ex-showroom. Against the base iPhone Duo price, that leaves approximately ₹70,900, although registration, insurance, accessories and city-specific charges reduce the real balance.

Apple’s revised list price for the base 13-inch MacBook Air M5 with 16GB memory and 512GB storage is ₹1,49,900. Two cost ₹2,99,800—just ₹100 below the entry iPhone Duo—before any bank or education discounts.
