The film has garnered much attention from the viewers and critics alike, since its release on January 22.
Raja Krishna Menon-directed movie brings Akshay Kumar as Ranjit Katyal and depicts India's massive evacuation of its citizens from Kuwait in 1990 during the Iraq-Kuwait war. The film opened to a collection of Rs 12.35 crore at the box office on the first day of the release.
Over the weekend, the film saw a decent jump and grossed Rs 14.60 crore on Saturday and Rs. 17.35 crore on Sunday, taking the first three-day collection to 44.30 crore. The film is being extensively praised both in India and internationally and is expected to have a good run at the box office.
The movie could not sustain its growth momentum and business fell on Monday to Rs 10.40 crore. It again witnessed a sustained growth on Tuesday due to a public holiday on the occasion of Republic Day and collected around 17.80 crore, the highest since its release.
The film has an action-packed story and plunges into the turbulent emotions of people, thereby giving the movie a realistic tone. The film also witnesses Akshay Kumar's amazing performance and that makes the film worth-watching.
Airlift has been speeding up on the box office records and it seems that Airlift will soon enter the 100 crore club. If that happens, the film will become the first film of 2016 to have done so.
