Snapping the six days long losing streak, the domestic markets ended marginally higher in trade on Tuesday, as concerns about corporate earnings continued to weigh, although higher Asian shares supported sentiment.
The S&P BSE Sensex cut initial gains in the afternoon trade and ended 31.44 points up at 26,590.59 after rising over 150 points in the early trade, while broader CNX Nifty held its key 8,050 level to settle at 8,060.70, up 9.90 points.
Market breadth remained mixed with 15 of the 30 Sensex stocks ending the day in green.
Here are top stocks which were in focus today:
- Eros International: Shares of Eros International wiped out entire gains as the session progressed after the clarification from entertainment firm's parent company Eros International Plc failed to allay investor concerns on the way it generated revenues from UAE. The stock eventually settled at Rs 245.05, down 2.18 per cent after hitting an intraday high of Rs 275.55, up 10 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
- TVS Motor Company: Shares of TVS Motor Company surged over 6 per cent in trade on Friday, adding to 3.30 per cent gains in the previous session after the two-wheeler maker reported 14 per cent increase in total sales at 2,74,622 units in October. The stock ended 8.87 per cent up after hitting an intraday high of Rs 292.35, up 6.63 per cent on the BSE.
- Blue Star: Shares of Blue Star ended 2 per cent down after the engineering conglomerate announced that it has acquired 51 per cent stake in Oman Electro Mechanical Contracting Co LLC (OEMC), a 100 per cent subsidiary of W J Towell & Co LLC.
- Oberoi Realty: Shres of Oberoi Realty ended 6.82 per cent down after it reported a marginal rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 72.44 crore for the quarter ended September 30.
- United Spirits: Shares of liquor major United Spirits on Tuesday surged nearly 8 per cent after the company posted a net profit of Rs 929.3 crore for the second quarter ended September.The stock ended 5.6 per cent up after climbing 7.68 per cent to Rs 3,499.90 intraday on BSE.
- India Cements: N Srinivasan-led India Cements ended 1.50 per cent down after it reported a net profit of Rs 41.04 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, on cost-cutting.
- Amtek Auto: Shares of Amtek Auto surged over 17 per cent in trade on Tuesday after the troubled auto component maker appointed Morgan Stanley as advisors to assist in its debt reduction plan. The stock ended 14.34 per cent higher after hitting an intraday high of Rs 45.40, up 17.31 per cent on BSE.
- Adani Power: Shares of Adani Power ended 2.69 per cent down after the company said its net loss for the quarter ended September 30 has narrowed down to Rs 369 crore as against the net loss of Rs 799 crore suffered in the corresponding quarter in the last fiscal.
