How will Bitcoin perform in 2019? Here's what experts believe

Bitcoin investors saw a turbulent 2018 with the price of crytocurrency crashing from over $13,000 to less than $4000. Bitcoin opened the year at $13,480 (Rs 8,60,935), but saw a consistent decline in value. Bitcoin was trading at a level of $3979 (Rs 2,78,971) on December 20, representing a fall of 67 per cent in value. Opinions are divided on the fate of this cryptocurrency that has caught the imagination of new age investors. Most experts believe that cryptocurrency value is likely to see an upward trend

According to Ermakov, crypto is gaining recognition with Intercontinental Exchange's (ICE) confirmation to launch Bitcoin futures officially. This move is considered as a great push to cryptocurrencies. To support his statement Ermakov stated that "Based on the existence of important fundamental factors such as the launch of BAKKT ICE and NASDAQ futures, 2019 is expected to be positive for price dynamics."

Sluymer believes that it's unlikely that the 'worst comes to worst' scenario would be repeated in context to cryptocurrencies. Sluymer has shared the bullish sentiment with his co-worker, Tom Lee, quoting "If you're short we think you should be very careful and reducing your short exposure. I think if you're looking to be long this is where you start adding here to your long exposure".

Last year, McAfee predicted that Bitcoin would surpass $7000 in value - his predictions came true. Now he predicts that Bitcoin price will hit $1 million by 2020. McAfee tweeted "When I predicted bitcoin at $500,000 by the end of 2020, it used a model that predicted $5,000 at the end of 2017. BTC has accelerated much faster than my model assumptions. I now predict bitcoin at $1 Million by the end of 2020."

As per Kristjan Dekleva, absence of institutional investors is a reason to worry for Bitcoin enthusiasts. He quotes "In the short-term, falls have been driven by emotion and in many cases disinformation - a small rumor can have a big impactDemand is driven by market speculation, but the absence of institutional investors means the market is unstable."

Llew Classen made a brave statement to reassure Bitcoin believers, he said that cryptocurrency is on the right track - specifically, on track to reach the $40,000 mark.

Bobby Lee founder and CEO of the China-based bitcoin exchange BTCC is extremely optimistic about Bitcoin, stating that "Bitcoin, I think will get to $1 million per BitcoinRight now it's 10,000, it will go 100,000 and then 200,000, 500,000."

Winklevoss is the fourth wealthiest cryptocurrency investor. According to him "Bitcoin is actually fixed in supply so it's better than scarce it sort of equals a better gold across the board. We think regardless of the price moves in the last few weeks, it's still a very underappreciated asset."

Ex-IMF chief Rogoff believes that Bitcoin would not be as valuable as it was in 2017. Instead he predicts, Bitcoin would even lose their present worth and would settle at $100.
"I think Bitcoin will be worth a tiny fraction of what it is now if we're headed out 10 years from nowI would see $100 as being a lot more likely than $100,000."
