The speed would be enough to transmit 44 high-definition (HD) movies at once. (Photo for representation purposes only; Souce: Reuters)Billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio Infocomm plans to provide fourth generation (4G) LTE wireless services across India by June this year. While this has made headlines during the last couple of years, the catch lies elsewhere.
The company plans to provide Internet speed of 1.4 terabit per second, enough to transmit 44 high-definition (HD) movies at once.
A terabit is equal to one trillion (110 powered 12 ) binary digits (bits). While, the average broadband speed in India is 2 megabits per second (mbps), the highest speed of 34 mbps has been recorded in the PMO.
Reliance Jio's 4G LTE infrastructure will also be an enabler for a portfolio of rich multi-media digital services including education, health-care, entertainment, payment and cloud services for millions of homes and businesses across India.
