

Pioneer in smartwatches, Pebble Technology, a company that started with a Kickstarter in 2012, has now announced its entry in the India market. Much before the official launch, these smartwatches were available for purchase on the popular ecommerce platforms. Pebble too has adopted the online strategy and the smartwatches will be sold through Amazon.in. Although late, Pebble has introduced its compete range in the Indian market, which includes Pebble Classic, Pebble Time, Pebble Time Steel and Pebble Time Round.

Available in Red, White, Black and limited versions in Pink, the Pebble Classic comes with a 1.26-inch ePaper display- an ultra-low-powered Sharp LCD with a 144x168-pixel resolution. It has got a battery backup of 7 days and has got a motion-sensing accelerometer and Ambient Light Sensor. It is waterproof and offers basic control of music on your phone along with fetching notifications for calls, texts, emails and messages. Classic is priced at Rs 5,999.
Pebble Time pairs with iPhone and Androi and is water resistant. Even this features seven-day battery backup and has an e-paper colour display. It also supports voice dictation for message replies, and a thinner, ergonomic design to the mix. The Pebble Health feature tracks your steps, sleep, and helps to get personalised insights and is available for Rs 9,999.
The Pebble Time Round priced at Rs 13,599 has a circular dial that is 7.5 mm thin and weighs 28 gm. It is the thinnest and lightest smartwatch in the world and comes in two band sizes 14 mm and 20 mm. It has a quick-release watchband mechanism that lets users swap bands in seconds. The Pebble Health feature tracks your steps, sleep, and helps to get personalized insights and fetches notifications from the phone. There are apps and watch faces that can be added to the Round.
The most expensive of them all is the Pebble Time Steel with 10 days of battery backup and personalized mode. IT is 10.5mm thin and has got ergonomic profile and stainless steel band. It does everything - from notifications, calendar events, incoming calls, fitness, music playback and more. It is even water resistant up to 30 meters and has got a built-in microphone for voice notes and quick replies. The Time Steel is priced at Rs 15,999.
According to IDC, the global market for wearable technology is witnessing a surge. IDC predicts 110 million wearable devices to be shipped in 2016, up by nearly 38 percent from the last year.
