The tech world is abuzz with speculation that Google Inc could introduce the next generation of
its Nexus tablets on July 24.
The Internet search giant sent out invites to the San Francisco event last week.
Android, the world's leading mobile operating system, powers Google's line-up of Nexus tablets. The devices have emerged
as a popular alternative to Apple Inc's iPad since Google released
the first Nexus tablet with a 7-inch display screen in July 2012.
It has become customary for top-selling devices to be upgraded at least once a year, fueling speculation that is what Google is about to do with the Nexus on Wednesday.
Sundar Pichai, who oversees Google's Android and Chrome operating systems, will be hosting the event.
