In the effort to empowering the underprivileged to learn basic English, Tata Docomo, the GSM arm of Tata Teleservices, has launched 'English Seekho', a value-added-service application.

Accessible through an interactive voice portal, 529221, the service aims to teach situational spoken English. Under the guidance of English Guru and Maria as teachers, the audio will guide the users through audio clips that can teach spoken English through learning sessions.

With 5 different levels -- basic course, social course, professional course,  advance course and full course -- one can cover all 44 chapters and learn different levels of English. At the end of every session, there will be a short test. Priced at Rs10 for 15 days, it also involves subsequent browsing charges at 1paise/second.

Rishi Mohan Malhotra, Head VAS, Tata DoCoMo, says, "English Seekho is not just a tool to monetize, but a facilitator for learning and education. Those who can't speak English and converse, with English Seekho, situational spoken English can be learnt at elementary level. The service liberates from a classroom session to a complete mobile way of learning a language and we hope our subscribers will reap the benefits of the application in the days to come.
