Owning the
cloud will no longer cost small and medium enterprises the sky.
Zenith Infotech on Monday announced the launch of TigerCloud, a private cloud product based on the
Intel platform and targeted at small and medium enterprises.
Apart from the fact that they will cost just a fraction of similar products, the TigerCloud will let the companies run all their IT solutions virtually. "The servers, which will be under customer control, will take just under three hours to set up and that too without any engineers," says
Akash Saraf , Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Infotech. The high performance private cloud product combines server, storage and network virtualisation technology and is based on Intel Xeon E3 processor family.
"The benefits of TigerCloud are many. For one, it will be under customer control and on his premises. Then this solution is extremely elastic and can be deployed by firm with over 20 employees. Plus, the prices start at Rs 4 lakh, which is at least 70 per cent cheaper than other cloud solutions," explains Saraf. "I like to call it the Tata Nano of cloud computing."
An earlier version of Zenith's private cloud already has some 6,000 users in the US and Europe. The TigerCloud, however, is "speedier, smarter and stronger". It uses the Intel Xeon E3 processors, Intel DBS1200BTS board and Intel 320 series SSDs built around Microsoft's Hyper-V technology. Zenith Infotech has invested over Rs 200 crore on R&D for its private cloud products.
Debjani Ghosh, Managing Director, Sales and Marketing Group, Intel, South Asia, says Intel's Xeon E3 processors deliver intelligent and adaptive performance, and reliability which will be beneficial to SMBs. "Its built-in 24/7 dependability and advanced security features help users stay focused on their business - responding quickly to customers, opportunities, and trends."
