- HMD Global could launch new Nokia phones on March 19.
- Nokia 8.2, Nokia 5.2, and Nokia 1.3 are expected to be launched.
- HMD Global could also launch Nokia 400 4G and an Original series phone.
HMD Global has finally broken its silence on when its new Nokia phones will see the light of day. The company has scheduled an event for March 19 in London where the Nokia smartphones and feature phones are likely to be launched. The announcement was made by Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global in a teaser video shared on Twitter. While the video does not mention what we can expect from the event, it will likely be for the unveiling new Nokia phones that were previously supposed to be launched at the now-cancelled MWC 2020.
Sarvikas shared the video with a caption that says No Time To Wait. We have something very special lined up for you. The caption hints at the launch of multiple phones in the style of the upcoming movie in the James Bond series, No Time To Die. As far as the speculations go, HMD Global could launch as many as five phones at the London event. They will include the Nokia 8.2, Nokia 5.2, Nokia 1.3, Nokia 400 4G, and finally a new phone under the brand-new Original series if reports are to be believed.
Here is everything that you should know about the upcoming Nokia phones:
The successor to the Nokia 8.1, the Nokia 8.2 will come with support for 5G, as per reports. It is said to rock the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 processor with at least three RAM and storage options 4GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, and 8GB/256GB. The reports have also suggested that the Nokia 8.2 will come with a 32-megapixel pop-up selfie camera and run Android 10 out of the box. There is a quad rear camera setup expected on the Nokia 8.2, one of which will house a 64-megapixel sensor. The Nokia 8.2 is said to be priced at EUR 459, which is approximately Rs 36,000.
The Nokia 5.2 will rather fit the mid-range segment and succeed over the Nokia 5.1. It is said to come with a 5.2-inch display with a waterdrop-style notch. The smartphone is tipped to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor paired with 3GB or 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB storage. It is said to pack Android One and have at least two rear cameras a 16-megapixel main sensor and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor. The smartphone could be priced at EUR 169, which translates to roughly Rs 13,500.
The Nokia 1.3 will be an entry-level phone that take over the Nokia 1 Plus smartphone. It is said to rock a Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 SoC with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and Android One under the hood. A 13-megapixel main camera is also likely on the smartphone and the price could be EUR 79 (approximately Rs 6,200).
Nokia 400 4G
The Nokia 400 4G could be the most interesting phone of all. If previous reports are to be believed, the Nokia 400 4G will be a feature phone that will run on Android. Google was spotted last year to be working on a toned-down version of Android for feature phones, in an attempt to take on KaiOS. The phone will come preloaded with apps such as YouTube, Gmail, Google Search, and Google Chrome.
