DJI Mavic Air 2 Official Image
DJI Mavic Air 2 Official ImageDJI is known for building drones and has won over the hearts of many digital content creators. The company has different drone series such as Mavic Air, Mavic Pro, and Mavic Mini to choose from. The latest speculations suggest DJI will introduce a new Air series member known as DJI Mavic Air 2s very soon.
The DJI Mavic Air series consists of Mavic Air introduced in 2018 and Mavic Air 2 launched in 2020. Now, drone users may get to see the successor of the latter, Mavic Air 2. However, reports say that the Mavic Air 2s will only bring significant improvements to the Mavic Air 2, as well as a new sensor. The rumoured Mavic Air 2s may arrive with the same battery capacity of 3500mAh as included in the Mavic Air 2.
There are chances that Mavic Air 2s may come with Ocusync 3.0 connectivity for compatibility with DJI's FPV Goggles V2. For the unversed, DJI launched its FPV (first-person view) System last month to offer a near real-time immersive flight experience. The system consists of the FPV drone, FPV Goggles V2 (head-mount display), FPV Remote Controller 2, and a Motion Controller.
It is suspected that Mavic Air 2s will be able to connect with FPV Goggles V2 for multiple reasons. One, having such connectivity will allow the drone to differentiate itself from its predecessor. Two, the new Mavic Air 2s will be future-ready. Three, including Ocusync 3.0 wouldn't be challenging as Mavic Air 2 already has Ocusync 2.0 connectivity.
Another thing that might be different in the Mavic Air 2s will probably be a bigger sensor. A DJI leaker OsitaLV on Twitter hinted at a 20-megapixel sensor that may be included in the drone. It might be a back-illuminated Sony IMX383 CMOS sensor. If this happens to be true, then it may bring joy to drone users as the Mavic Air 2 is equipped with a 12-megapixel sensor. To have a 20-megapixel sensor on the new drone will be a huge upgrade.
Going by the reports, the price of the DJI Mavic Air 2 is expected to be around 800 Euros, or 950 USD. The company may announce the new drone sometime in April or May, 2021.
