Google Pixel Watch 2 launched in India with new sensors, better battery life: Check price, specs

Google has officially announced the launch of its highly anticipated Google Pixel Watch 2 and the Pixel Buds Pro. The tech giant aims to build upon the success of its previous smartwatch and wireless earbuds with several key enhancements. Here is a look at the India prices and the specs of the new Google watch and wireless earphones.

Google Pixel Watch 2: India price details

The new Google Pixel Watch 2 is priced at Rs 39,900 in India. As part of the launch offer, those who will buy the new Pixel 8 will be able to get this smartwatch at a discounted price. Its price will then drop to Rs 19,999. The Pixel Watch 2 has been introduced in Polished Silver/Bay, Matte Black/Obsidian, and other colour options. The smartwatch is now up for pre-order in India.

Google Pixel Watch 2: Design, specs

The Google Pixel Watch 2 maintains a familiar design but brings significant improvements under the hood. The watch features a plain, smooth glass front. You will be able to change watch faces as well. Further personalization is possible through interchangeable wrist straps, including a range of first-party options.

One of the most notable upgrades is the adoption of the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip, a 4nm processor that replaces the Exynos 9110. Paired with 2GB of RAM, this new chipset promises better performance and improved efficiency. It's a welcome change to address concerns about battery life, even though the battery capacity remains at 306mAh, with Google claiming a 24-hour battery life, even with the Always On Display feature enabled.

While the exterior design remains largely unchanged from the previous model, with a single 41mm size option, the Google Pixel Watch 2 introduces a 1.2" circular OLED display with a resolution of 384 x 384 pixels. Despite the lower resolution compared to its predecessor, the new display offers various watch faces, providing users with options to balance legibility and information density.

Additionally, the watch includes optical heart rate and blood-oxygen sensors, as well as stress level tracking and sleep quality reports. However, it does not yet support ECG monitoring like some of its competitors.

Google has maintained a 5ATM/IP68 rating for the Pixel Watch 2, ensuring dust resistance and suitability for swimming in pools. A notable addition this year is UWB (Ultra-Wideband) support, promising more accurate tracking of UWB-enabled devices with direction indication. Google is also working on building an Android-native Find My Device network, although it has not released its own tracking tags.

Pixel Buds Pro in new colours, some improvements

During the Pixel 8 and Watch 2 launch event, Google introduced two fresh colour options for the Pixel Buds Pro: Off-white and Blue. Apart from these new colour choices, the Pixel Buds Pro maintain their existing specifications and pricing.

These feature-rich earbuds come equipped with active noise cancellation and a transparency mode, hands-free access to Google Assistant, and a multi-point connection for device switching. The company claims that users will get a battery life of up to 31 hours.

Additionally, Google has incorporated new software enhancements for an enhanced user experience. Notably, the Pixel Buds Pro now support Google's Clear Calling voice enhancement tech, designed to reduce background noise during phone calls. Moreover, the inclusion of Bluetooth Super Wideband doubles the bandwidth for voices, resulting in clearer and more full-bodied audio quality.
