Apple is in the process of upgrading its hardware with in-house chipsets. The Cupertino giant has already launched a range of products with its in-house chipset, and the MacBook Pro seems to be next in the launch pipeline. That said, the upcoming MacBook Pro is tipped to ship with a more powerful M1X chipset, unlike the 13 inch M1 MacBook Pro.

Strong statements were being made about the arrival of the MacBook Pro M1X at WWDC 2021, but that didn't seem to happen. Now, a fresh leak has appeared suggesting the launch to take place in the first week of August. This further corroborates with the expected timeline from a few more analysts. However, nothing can be said for sure as another report claims that the production of MacBook Pro M1X has been moved to later this year.

Apple is supposed to introduce MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 with M1X chipset. Courtesy of the leaks, we know that the lineup would come in a refreshed design, a 1080p webcam, mini-LED display and more.

Now that the launch of the MacBook Pro M1X is on the cards, we decided to stack everything we know so far about this laptop.

MacBook Pro M1X specs and features

--Apple introduced the 13-inch MacBook Pro M1 alongside MacBook M1 Air in November last year. Since then, fans have been waiting for the more powerful MacBook Pro M1X that will replace the currently selling Intel-powered MacBook Pro's.

--While we saw no hardware during the WWDC 2021, Apple accidentally confirmed the existence of the M1X MacBook Pro and the M1X chipset. 9to5Mac spotted tags like "M1X MacBook Pro" and "M1X" in Apple's official WWDC YouTube video, indicating that the Cupertino giant may have been planning to launch the new MacBook Pro.

--The upcoming MacBook Pro is expected to see some design changes. Most important of all is the removal of the touch-bar that first appeared on the 2016 model. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the touch bar will be replaced by physical keys.

--Moving further, the rumoured laptop may feature a squared-off design as seen on the latest Apple products. Concept renders of the MacBook Pro M1X from Antonio de Rosa further confirm the leak. The laptop appears to feature slimmer bezels and no touch bar, as hinted by some other tipster.

--It is also supposed to get support for Magsafe charging. As far as the port options are concerned, the MacBook Pro M1X will have plenty of port options, including microSD, HDMI and a few thunderbolts. The laptop may also get a 1080p web camera. Not to miss, the device could also feature a micro-LED display.

--Through a previous leak, we also know that the 16-inch MacBook Pro is codenamed J316. Further, the report details that Apple is planning two different chips for the MacBook Pros. These chipsets codenamed Jade C-Chop, and Jade C-Die, will include eight high-performance cores and two energy-efficient cores. Additionally, these chipsets will be offered in either 16 or 32 graphics core variations. In comparison, the current M1 chipset has four high-performance cores, four energy-efficient cores and eight graphics cores.

--These upcoming chipsets can include up to 64GB of RAM, while the M1 Macs could get a maximum of 16GB. They'll also bring an improved neural engine that will be capable of processing complex machine-learning tasks.

--In order to cool these powerful chipsets, Apple is supposed to borrow the improved heat dissipation system from the current 16-inch MacBook Pro model. Apple revamped the thermal system of the 16-inch MacBook Pro, increasing the size of the heat pipe, adding thermal pads, and increasing the size of the heat sink by 35 per cent.

--Twitter leaker Dylan says that the M1X branding is correct. He further describes the chipset as an extension of M1 with more CPU and GPU cores. The leaker was accurate with the predictions about the M1 iMac, so there may be something to the claim.

--Apple ditched the butterfly keyboard for a good reason. The new Magic keyboard is decent, and we don't see any reason as to why Apple would want to replace it.

--We have also come across a patent that says that Apple is planning to add an AirPower charger to the upcoming MacBook Pro. The patent shows off wireless charging coils all over the surface of the MacBook. Now, this is just a patent, and we have no idea if Apple is taking this forward for any future models.

MacBook Pro M1X launch date

Plenty of assumptions are being made about the arrival of the MacBook Pro M1X after the no show at WWDC 2021. Ming-Chi Kuo expects the device to be released in the third quarter of 2021. LeaksApplePro has a more precise date that claims the laptop will arrive in Week 31 (August 2-August 8). Whereas a report from Nikkei Asia says that the production of the MacBook Pro's would begin later, hence the launch could be delayed to October-November.

MacBook Pro M1X India price

There aren't any leaks around the pricing of the MacBook Pro M1X. But the pricing of the M1 powered MacBooks hint towards pricing similar to the previous iteration. The base variant of the 16-inch MacBook Pro is priced at Rs 1,99,900, so we expect the new Mac laptop to ship at the same price.
