The smartphone gaming industry has seen a sudden surge in India. While there are a bunch of high-end gaming smartphones, we barely see any gaming-focused smartphones in the midrange segment. In order to fill that void, Xiaomi's relatively newer sub-brand Poco is planning to launch the Poco F3 GT soon in India.
Recently Poco executive confirmed that the smartphone would launch in Q3 in India. In addition to that, the Director of Poco India, Anuj Sharma, shared a 30-second clip. The clip reveals that the Poco F3 GT will be powered by Mediatek's flagship Dimensity 1200 SoC. Further, the tweet talks about gaming triggers. The details in the tweet align with a previous leak that said that the Poco F3 GT would be a rebadged version of Redmi K40 gaming launched in China last month.
Now that the launch of the Poco F3 GT is on the cards, we decided to detail the specs, features, pricing and everything else we know about this device.
--The Poco F3 GT will be a mid-range gaming smartphone that will possibly feature the same design and specs as the Redmi K40 gaming. It's pretty obvious that the device will come with gaming aesthetics and triggers to differentiate it from other devices in the segment.
--Poco has already confirmed that Dimensity 1200 SoC powers the smartphone. This is the same chipset that powers the recently launched Realme X7 Max. Besides this, the device was listed on an American e-commerce website with model number M2104K10I along with its specifications.
--Surprisingly, the Poco F3 GT on the website is priced at USD 1,299 (Rs 95,325 roughly ) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. It's obvious that the price mentioned is incorrect as the same variant of the Redmi K40 gaming goes for CNY 1,999 (Rs 22,870 roughly).
--Through the same listing, we know that the Poco F3 GT features a 6.7 inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution. We suppose the display will have a refresh rate of 144Hz, as seen on the Redmi K40 gaming. As mentioned before, the smartphone will be powered by Mediatek Dimensity 1200 SoC. It is an octa-core SoC based on a 6nm manufacturing process and coupled with Arm Mali-G77 MC9 GPU.
--We have learnt that the Poco F3 GT will come with 6G of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. However, we are presuming Poco will launch a few more storage variants alongside.
--In the camera department, the Poco F3 GT is supposed to feature a triple camera setup consisting of a 64-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and another 2-megapixel macro shooter. Whereas on the front, it is expected to hold a 16-megapixel shooter for selfies. We are guessing the front camera will be capable of shooting 4K 30fps videos, whereas the rear video capability on the front camera will be capped at 1080p 30fps.
--The Poco F3 GT is expected to bring support for WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type-C and GPS. It may also feature an IR-blaster. As far as battery life is concerned, the smartphone is supposed to get a 5065mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging. Not to miss, the device may ship with Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 on top.
A Poco official has already confirmed that the smartphone is coming in Q3 in India. From what we have learnt, the Poco F3 GT will be available in the month of July.
Like the Redmi K40 gaming, the Poco F3 GT will be a mid-range smartphone that is supposed to be priced under Rs 25000 in India. To provide some perspective, the base variant of Redmi K40 gaming with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage was launched at a starting price of CNY 1,999 (Rs. 22,800 roughly), whereas the top variant with 12GB of RAM and 256 of onboard storage goes for CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs. 30,800).
