Poco is set to resume its India launches by introducing the Poco M3 Pro 5G in India on Tuesday, June 8. The smartphone was launched globally in May and was expected to be unveiled in India late last month as well. However, the smartphone maker had canceled all its launches for the month because of the Covid-19 situation. The Poco M3 Pro 5G is a re-branded version of the Redmi Note 10 5G which was launched earlier in China.
It's worth mentioning that the Poco M3 Pro 5G is the first 5G smartphone from the company in India. The Indian variant of the phone is expected to have design and features as the global variant of the phone. The Poco M3 Pro 5G should come with a 6.5-inch 90Hz display, MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC, a 5,000mAh battery.
The Poco M3 Pro 5G should feature a 6.5-inch FHD+ LCD DotDisplay with 1100 nits brightness and a 90Hz refresh rate. The display will have DynamicSwitch feature which will allow the screen to switch at different refresh rates depending on what's running on it. The smartphone will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC coupled with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, up to 6GB RAM, and 128GB UFS 2.2 internal storage. The users will have an option to expand the storage using a microSD card.
For photography, the Poco M3 Pro 5G is expected to have a triple rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 2-megapixel depth sensor and a 2-megapixel macro lens. It should have an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies.
The Poco M3 Pro 5G runs Android 11-based MIUI 12 custom. It is likely to pack a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging support. It is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Poco M3 Pro 5G is expected to be a mid-range smartphone is likely to be priced between Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000. The India pricing of the Poco M3 Pro 5G will be known on June 8. In global markets, the pricing starts at Euro 180 (around Rs 16,100). Poco is expected to be price the smartphone around the same mark in India as well.
Rumours suggest that the Poco M3 Pro 5G price in India is likely to be 17,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. However, this will position the Poco M3 Pro 5G very close to the Poco X3 Pro which is a far more powerful smartphone.
Going by Poco's history, it would be safe to say that the eventual price of the smartphone will be more aggressive that being tipped right now. Don't be surprised if the Poco M3 Pro 5G is priced on either side of Rs 15,000 in India. It will then compete with the recently launched Redmi Note 10S, Redmi Note 10 Pro and Realme 8 Pro.
