India is currently undergoing a digital transformation, and one aspect of this transformation is the increasing trend of ordering food online. People enjoy the convenience of ordering their favourite meals from restaurants and having it delivered directly to their homes. However, the online food delivery market is mostly dominated by Swiggy and Zomato, which has led many users to believe that prices on these platforms are relatively higher. However, if you also order food online but also want to save some money, there is good news. The Indian government's non-profit open e-commerce network, ONDC, has recently launched a special offer.
ONDC, which stands for Open Network for Digital Commerce, has introduced its inaugural network partner initiative known as "Super Saver Sundays." Starting on June 18, 2023, which also coincides with Father's Day, this initiative aims to provide exclusive offers and discounts to consumers.
ONDC has reportedly partnered with Magicpin, Paytm, and Phonepe's Pincode, who will collaborate to create exciting new discount opportunities for customers. The upcoming Super Saver Sunday is expected to be the first of many similar events, emphasizing the provision of top-quality hyperlocal delivery options at highly competitive prices. While the participation of the initial partners is confirmed, there is also an anticipation for additional partners to join in the future.
Announcing the offers, T Koshy, the CEO of ONDC said in a statement, "We are thrilled to see this Sunday initiative by network participants, as it will propel more and more consumers to try this new way of digital commerce. We applaud such initiative by our network participants as well as sellers and their exclusive offers, which will create a vibrant experience that transcends traditional online shopping."
ONDC further notes that during the Super Saver Sunday, participating vendors will offer exclusive discounts on selected food delivery orders from popular food chains such as Rebel Food brands (Faasos, Oven Story, Behrouz Biryani), McDonald's, WowMomo, Pizza Hut, Barbeque Nation, and Barista. Users can avail minimum 50 per cent off or higher on the select food items. and potentially go even higher.
To avail the discounts, users can search for ONDC on buyer-apps like Magicpin, Paytm, and Pincode. Here is a step by step guide to order from ONDC.
ONDC does not have its own app for food ordering. So, customers can order food through the partner apps - Paytm, PhonePe and Magicpin.
