Do you enable AdBlock? You may have to bid adieu to them now

When you're tired of seeing flashy lights, roll-out advertisements and pop-ups on websites what do you do? AdBlock, right?

Well, you may have to reconsider this option, because if you can block their ads, they may block the content for you.

This is what has happened.

Leading news websites in India, starting from Thursday, have blocked their content for readers who use ad blockers.

AdBlock gets rid of all the unwanted advertisements that distract you from focusing on the content on your screen.

But this is going to change for ardent readers of news from now.

The move comes in the backdrop of rising protest against ad blocking.

Ad-blockers hit the revenue model of websites that majorly depend on advertisements as primary source of income.

Times of India has already enabled, and eight other news houses such as The Indian Express, The Hindu, Dainik Bhaskar and more will follow suit, said a Quartz report.

Users with ad blockers who visit their website will now be welcomed by a notice to disable their ad block to be able to read their daily news.

This decision will have a crucial impact on readers in India as the country has the second highest number of ad block users after China.

Globally, Forbes and Men's GQ magazine have also blocked their content for users with AdBlock enabled.
