
Dr. Pawan Goenka, Chairman of IN-SPACe, told Business Today that India’s space sector is at an inflection point, moving from an ISRO-led model to a vibrant private ecosystem. He said private players will now take the lead in commercial activities, while ISRO continues advanced R&D. Goenka dismissed fears of competition from Starlink, citing India’s cost advantage, and highlighted growing investor confidence with startups aggressively bidding for projects. He also confirmed India’s first space unicorn could emerge soon, while FDI in space has already been liberalized significantly.
