Speaking at the 17th Annual Corporate Governance Summit, Madhabi Puri Buch, Chairperson of SEBI, discussed the significant growth in market value over the past year. Buch stated that Rs 10.5 lakh crore has been raised from the Indian capital markets in the last 12 months. "We are so focused on the equity markets that we sometimes overlook the impact of the bond market on the Indian economy," Buch remarked. During the event, Buch highlighted that nearly 44 percent of the time, the market regulator is dedicated to promoting ease of doing business and development. "This focus often goes unnoticed because ease of doing business is non-controversial and rarely makes headlines," she explained. Additionally, she expressed strong confidence in REITs and INVITs, referring to them as the future drivers of the entire market value, equivalent to one percent of GDP.
