Delivering a visionary and forward-looking special address at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi, French President Emmanuel Macron highlighted the transformative power of artificial intelligence and praised India’s digital leadership. Recalling the joint AI Action Summit co-hosted by France and India in Paris last year, Macron said both nations had set global guiding principles for responsible and human-centric AI. He described AI as a powerful enabler capable of revolutionising healthcare, energy, mobility, agriculture, and public services for the benefit of humanity, while cautioning that it has also become a field of intense strategic competition dominated by big technology firms.
Macron strongly applauded India’s digital public infrastructure, calling it unparalleled globally. He pointed to India’s digital identity system for 1.4 billion people, a payment network handling nearly 20 billion transactions a month, and a health platform issuing over 500 million digital health IDs. Terming it the India Stack, Macron said India has demonstrated how technology can drive inclusion, citing how even street vendors now participate fully in the digital economy. He said the world is at the start of a major acceleration, with India playing a defining role.
