Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has emerged as one of India’s most celebrated space pioneers after becoming the first Indian to visit the International Space Station. Flying aboard Axiom Mission 4 in June–July 2025, Shukla spent nearly 18 days aboard the ISS, conducting dozens of experiments, including multiple Indian-designed microgravity studies. His work is providing crucial data for ISRO’s upcoming Gaganyaan human spaceflight programme. During the mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Shukla while he was in orbit, and later met him after his return to Earth. The mission marks a major milestone in India’s space journey and has inspired a new generation.
