“India Is A Compelling Case”: Piyush Goyal On Data Centres, Clean Power & Global Trade

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted India’s expanding power infrastructure and clean-energy capacity, pitching the country as an attractive destination for global data centres and technology investments. He said India’s electricity grid has grown to over 520 GW and is expected to reach 1,000 GW in the next seven to eight years. Goyal said around 60% of current grid capacity is clean energy, with India targeting 500 GW of clean energy by 2030 and 100 GW of nuclear capacity by 2047. He also highlighted tax incentives for data centres and India’s growing network of free trade agreements, aimed at integrating the country deeper into global value chains.
