Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has expressed confidence that India and the United States will soon sign an interim trade agreement, stating that most issues between the two sides have already been resolved. He said the US delegation has started arriving in Delhi and formal talks are scheduled from June 2 to 4. Goyal noted that the framework for the deal was announced earlier in February, and added that major points have been settled. He also cited remarks from the US Ambassador indicating that nearly 99% of the agreement has already been finalised. The Minister said he is confident the first tranche of the bilateral trade agreement will be concluded soon, after which both sides will move towards a more comprehensive trade pact in the next phase of negotiations.
