The World Health Organization is warning about the growing impact of excessive screen use, social media, online gaming and AI-powered platforms on children's health. While technology can support learning and connection, prolonged screen exposure has been linked to disrupted sleep, reduced physical activity, anxiety, loneliness and low self-esteem. Children also face risks from cyberbullying, harmful content, misinformation and AI-generated deepfakes. Neurologists are also reporting more young people experiencing headaches, brain fog, poor sleep and concentration problems associated with excessive smartphone use. The message is not to fear technology, but to use it wisely, set boundaries and ensure screens don't take control of everyday life.
