India has rejected Pakistan’s allegations over the collision between Indian Navy warship INS Kolkata and Pakistan Navy vessel PNS Hunain in the western Arabian Sea. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said INS Kolkata was on routine deployment when PNS Hunain allegedly carried out a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre, resulting in the collision. Jaiswal described the conduct as “unacceptable and unprofessional” and said it violated Article 10 of the 1991 India-Pakistan agreement on advance notice of military exercises, manoeuvres and troop movements, which requires naval units at sea to maintain a distance of three nautical miles. He added that INS Kolkata suffered no major damage and remains at sea.
