Maruti Suzuki Baleno bookings cross 1 lakh mark

Maruti Suzuki has announced that bookings for its premium hatchback Baleno  have crossed the 1 lakh mark.

Country's largest car maker in early December said bookings for Baleno had crossed the 40,000 mark.

The car was launched in October at Rs 4.99 lakh, with the top-end variant priced at Rs 8.11 lakh. It has an average waiting period of 6 months.

It's available in both diesel and petrol variants with the engines borrowed from the highly successful Swift hatchback but delivers higher mileage due to lighter weight. The 1.2 litre VVT petrol delivers 21.4 km per litre of mileage while the 1.3 DDiS diesel would run 27.39 kmpl. The petrol is also available in a CVT automatic transmission.

The car comptetes with Hyundai's premium vehicle i20 hatchback among others.
