Markets closed sharply higher on Monday, with benchmarks recouping a large part of the losses from the special Sunday session, as investors digested the Union Budget’s impact on markets and capital flows. The rebound came despite higher transaction taxes on derivatives and the lack of fresh foreign investment incentives. The Sensex surged 943 points to close at 81,666, while the Nifty 50 gained 262 points to end at 25,088. The Nifty Bank rose 201 points to 58,619. Sectoral buying was led by oil & gas, auto, FMCG, metal and realty stocks. Heavyweights such as Power Grid, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Adani Ports, Tata Consumer, BEL and Reliance Industries featured among the top gainers on the Nifty, supporting the broader market recovery.
Shares of Adani Group companies gained on Tuesday as the listed entities of Gautam Adani-led conglomerate soared as much as 13 per cent after the India-US trade deal.
Shares of Adani Group companies were seen rallying higher on Monday with select companies from the Gautam Adani-led conglomerate rising up to 5 per cent.
Among the energy sector names, Adani Total Gas and Adani Green Energy have both declined 35% from their highs recorded in September 2025.
The stock eventually ended the session 5.71 per cent lower at Rs 517.10. At the current level, the stock is down 17.40 per cent over the past six months.

Torrent Gas has cut CNG prices by up to Rs 3.50 per kg and domestic PNG prices by up to Rs 2 per standard cubic metre (scm), following the implementation of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board’s (PNGRB) unified pipeline tariff from January 1, 2026.

Adani Total: The stock dropped 8.34 per cent to an intraday low of Rs 715.75 and was last seen trading 7.71 per cent lower at Rs 720.65, marking a 3.85 per cent decline on a year-to-date (YTD) basis.
