On Friday, India administered the highest ever single-day vaccinations with 2.5 crore doses given in 24 hours, which Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya described as a golden chapter in world history
Published in Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, the study indicates that Moderna was 95% effective at preventing hospitalisation among adults aged 18 years and older, while Pfizer was 80% effective and J&J was 60% effective
"Our number one priority as a company right now is to bring to market a Pan-respiratory annual booster vaccine, which we plan to always customize and upgrade," Chief Executive Officer Stéphane Bancel said during Moderna's R&D day
"Even the public health response to Covid is governed by those goals. So we will also try to achieve those goals and see when would be the right time to export vaccines," said Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan
Dr NK Arora has stated that vaccines for healthy children will be available by the “ first quarter of 2022”. “Children with co-morbidities are more likely to develop severe diseases and hence they will be prioritised,” he said. Right now, India has given emergency use authorisation to one vaccine for kids above the age of 12. “This vaccine will be rolled out by October,” he said.
