Russo brothers are back: Everything Avengers: Doomsday's first trailer reveals

Marvel has released the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, teasing the arrival of Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. The film hits theatres on December 18, 2026 — and the question of who will and won't appear is generating enormous anticipation.

Tom Holland's Spider-Man is not officially in the Doomsday cast. His web-slinging story continues in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, releasing in US theatres on July 31 — a solo film taking on a more mature, street-level tone as the fourth installment in Sony/Marvel Studios' Spidey franchise.

Both Doomsday and Brand New Day were filming simultaneously. Doomsday began production in April 2025 and continued until September, while Brand New Day filmed through the summer — making a significant dual role for Tom Holland logistically very difficult.
