Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 hit the screens on Friday and initial reports say that it is doing particularly well in the northern region.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh in a tweet said, "Update: #YPD2 opens well in North, but faces a tough opponent in #YehJawaaniHaiDeewani."

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, the comedy drama starring the Deol clan, Dharmendra with sons Sunny and Bobby, runs into a tough competition from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which continues to do well.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, the romantic entertainer from the Karan Johar camp, touched the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office in its first week - the second-fastest time ever for a Bollywood movie.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh in a tweet on Friday said, "#YehJawaaniHaiDeewani crosses a ton, creates history."

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, pulled in over Rs 100 crore in its first week, equaling the feat of Bodyguard which also collected Rs 100 crore in seven days. But the Ayan Mukerji-directed Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is estimated to have hit the mark earlier than Bodyguard on the seventh day.

In another tweet Taran Adarsh said, "#YehJawaaniHaiDeewani collects 107.61 cr in Week 1. Fri 19.45 cr, Sat 20.16 cr, Sun 22.5 cr, Mon 13 cr, Tue 12 cr, Wed 11 cr, Thu 9.5 cr."

Ek Tha Tiger holds the record for collecting Rs 100 crore in just six days. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has become the seventeenth Bollywood movie to enter the Rs 100 crore club. (With inputs from boxofficeindia.com)
