Stocks that made news today: Nestle, HCL Infosystems and more
Nestle India shares plunged 2.79 per cent to Rs 5,782.85 after the company said it is in the process of withdrawing Maggi noodles stock from the market and destroying it.

Markets opened flat on Tuesday and remained volatile for most part of the trading session. The BSE Sensex, however, gained 100 points to 26,686.51 in the last hour of trading session owing to banking stocks bouncing back. The NSE Nifty also gained 33.40 points to 8,047.30.
Five stocks that remained in limelight today:
- HCL Infosystems: Shares jumped around 6 per cent after the company said it has entered a strategic partnership with Dell, the world's fastest-growing large integrated IT company, to distribute its entire hardware and software products. Shares of the company closed at Rs 33.75, up 5.63 per cent against their previous close. The scrip touched an intraday high and low of Rs 35.30 and Rs 30.65.
- IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company: The company has received a Taking-Over Certificate for substantial completion regarding Assam-19 Road Project from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Cheering the news, share price of the company jumped 4.35 per cent to Rs 71.90. The scrip touched a high and low of Rs 72.95 and Rs 67.45, respectively.
- Biocon: Shares of the biotechnology major rose 1.53 per cent to Rs 453.75 after its research arm Syngene International received Sebi's approval to launch an initial public offer (IPO). The company had filed its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the capital markets regulator through its lead merchant banker Axis Capital in April.
- Nestle India: Shares of the company plunged 2.79 per cent to Rs 5,782.85 after the company said it is in the process of withdrawing Maggi noodles stock from the market and destroying it. The estimated sales value of the stock in the market, including those with trade partners, is around Rs 210 crore. In addition, there were Maggi noodles and related material in factories and distribution centres when the withdrawal was announced and the estimated value of these is around Rs 110 crore.
- Essar Oil: Shares plunged around 5 per cent in morning trade after the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that there is no information regarding the promoters plan to sell around 50 per cent stake. However, it pared some of its losses and closed down by 2 per cent at Rs 143.45. Earlier, there was news that Ruias of the Essar group are set to sell around 50 per cent stake in Essar Oil to Russian oil and gas giant Rosneft for about Rs 10,500 crore.
