The new app launched here has relevant content sourced from local new organisations in the country. Currently, the app launched for India is aggregating content from over 85 news organisations, of which 29 are Indian.
For this, News Republic has partnered with popular names such as Aaj Tak, India Today, Business Today, Hindustan Times, Bollywood Hungama and many more. The app allows users to select topics and then fetches news articles on the same. It awards access to news articles, images and videos.
One can even add the articles for offline reading mode or set an automatic news download timer. If registered, it even syncs the favourites and profile across different devices.
Earlier, the international edition of the app was available for download before the launch of the Indian edition. Overall, News Republic offers news from 1,100 licensed content partners and shares 50,000 unique articles daily.
"We are passionate about news because it is a connective tissue for humanity. Those who read better know better and do better. It is our mission to spark global conversations about issues that matter. And no global conversation is complete without India," says Shafi Saxena, Chief Brand Officer, News Republic.
The company plans to be aggressive on social media platforms such as Facebook. They also plan to build a team in India and engage in offline activities at college campuses to promote the app further. The company is also in talks with phone OEMs for pre-installing the News Republic app on their smartphones.
"We will never advertise on television as that's not how we work," adds Saxena.
The revenue generation model for News Republic is through pushing ads, which will be visible on the app in a few months from now. There will also be an option of paid subscription for those who wish to access ad free content.
