  • OxygenOS 10.3.9 update is now being rolled out to OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T.
  • The update brings a new Android security patch and improvements in system stability.
  • The rollout will be phased and random for users across the globe.

OnePlus has started rolling out an OxygenOS update for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. Based on Android 10, the new OxygenOS 10.3.9 update for the two models promises a new Android security patch and improvements in system stability.

Beginning with a limited rollout, OxygenOS 10.3.9 will gradually be shared with all the users of OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. The phased roll out allows OnePlus to remove any bugs in the update as and when they are reported. The new version will be available as an over-the-air (OTA) update for both the devices soon.

As per OnePlus, OxygenOS 10.3.9 brings an updated, Android Security Patch 2021.02 and updates the GMS package to 2020.12. Known issues are fixed and system stability is also improved through the new version.

The rollout is completely random for now. Interested OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T users can manually check for the update by visiting Settings > System > System updates.

OnePlus had earlier confirmed a rollout of Android 11 based OxygenOS for both OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. The company, however, has not shared a timeline for this as of now. Considering the fact that OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T are yet to receive the update, it might not be anytime soon for the two previous-den devices.

On the hardware front, OnePlus is focused on the upcoming launch of its OnePlus 9 series. The company talks big of the camera work on the series, having worked with noted camera powerhouse Hassselblad. Much anticipation, hence, rests on the yet-to-come flagship devices byb OnePlus.

Interestingly. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau recently confirmed that the company will be introducing an India-exclusive OnePlus 9R during the launch. The budget variant will be launched alongside OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro.

Elaborating on the OnePlus 9R, Lau said that the new smartphone would offer a flagship experience at an affordable price. Being a budget offering, we know not to expect the best-in-line features on the device. It will still be a success, however, if it manages to be the best in its own class.

OnePlus thus seems to be heading back to its days of bringing flagship killers to its audience. Will it work for it the second time around? We won't have to wait long to find out.
