At the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, WEF President Børge Brende outlines the three biggest risks threatening global stability at a time when growth and trade are trying to recover. Speaking to Siddharth Zarabi, Group Editor, Business Today and Rajdeep Sardesai, consulting editor, India Today TV Brende points to the danger of major geopolitical escalation, particularly in energy-sensitive regions like the Gulf, as the most severe but least likely risk. He also flags rising economic vulnerabilities, including debt burdens and potential bubbles in artificial intelligence and crypto assets. The third challenge, he says, lies in unpredictable “black swans” such as pandemics and cyber warfare. While political uncertainty adds noise, Brende stresses that dialogue, adaptation and growth remain key to navigating a vastly changed global order.
