Royal Enfield has launched the Himalayan 440 in India at ₹2.29 lakh (ex-showroom) — positioned below the Himalayan 450 in the brand's lineup and aimed at buyers who want adventure motorcycle capability at a more accessible price point.
The Himalayan 440 is powered by a new 443cc single-cylinder engine producing 25.4 hp and 34 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Royal Enfield says it has made specific changes to this engine to enhance refinement and reduce noise and vibration compared with previous platforms.
The Himalayan 440 runs on a 21-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel — both spoke-type — on a half-duplex split-cradle frame. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and a monoshock rear unit, designed to handle varied terrain including unpaved roads.
The Himalayan 440 gets an analogue-digital instrument cluster with a dedicated Tripper pod offering Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. It does not get the fully digital round TFT instrument cluster available on the Himalayan 450 — a deliberate product differentiation between the two models.
Standard equipment includes dual-channel ABS, dual disc brakes, full LED lighting, a USB Type-C charging port and a 15-litre fuel tank. A split seat and the spoke wheel setup complete a specification list designed for long-distance touring capability within a budget-conscious package.
