Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said one of the Bondi Beach gunmen had been assessed by authorities in 2019 but was found not to pose an ongoing threat at the time. The mass shooting in Sydney, carried out by a father and son, left several people dead and many injured. Police confirmed the father died at the scene, while the 24-year-old son remains in critical condition. Albanese called for a review of Australia’s gun laws and assured Jewish Australians of strong action against anti-Semitism and terrorism. Disturbing videos showed beachgoers fleeing in panic as gunshots rang out. Victims ranged in age from 10 to 87. Authorities have declared the incident a terror attack, with investigations underway into possible ISIS links.
