India delivered a strong rebuttal to Pakistan at the United Nations, responding to remarks made by the Pakistani representative during an open debate. India reaffirmed that the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral and inalienable part of the country and will always remain so. Calling Pakistan’s repeated references to Kashmir “unwarranted,” India said they expose Islamabad’s obsessive focus on harming India and pursuing a divisive agenda, unbecoming of a non-permanent UN Security Council member.

India also addressed the Indus Waters Treaty, stating it was signed 65 years ago in good faith, but Pakistan repeatedly violated its spirit through wars and decades of cross-border terrorism. Citing tens of thousands of lives lost, including the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, India said the treaty has been placed in abeyance until Pakistan credibly and irrevocably ends support for terrorism. India further criticised Pakistan’s internal political actions and made it clear that it will counter terrorism in all forms, while remaining committed to peace, security and multilateralism.
