India’s Mines Ministry has confirmed that Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) is engaged in active discussions with Chile-based mining giant CODELCO for a potential copper mining partnership. According to Business Today TV sources, the talks have reached advanced stages, with both sides exploring the formation of a joint venture through which HCL may acquire a substantial stake in Chilean assets. An HCL delegation is scheduled to visit Chile in December to assess at least two mines, evaluate copper grades, and examine opportunities in untapped virgin blocks. The collaboration follows a previously signed knowledge-sharing agreement between the two companies. CODELCO, the world’s largest copper producer, could provide HCL with critical access to global mining expertise and high-quality reserves.
