Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called India’s semiconductor push the next step of the country’s electronics revolution. Speaking at the inauguration of the CG Semi OSAT facility in Sanand, Gujarat, PM Modi said India’s semiconductor growth did not happen suddenly, but came after a decade of progress in electronics manufacturing. He said mobile phone production in India has grown 33 times, electronics production has risen nearly sevenfold and electronics exports have grown nearly elevenfold since 2014. PM Modi said India’s roadmap is clear: first products, then components and now semiconductors. He added that the goal is to build the full chip ecosystem in India, from design to fabrication and packaging, and that India’s youth will power AI, robotics and next-gen technology with Made in India chips.
