Railways is stepping up its infrastructure push in Chhattisgarh, with multiple projects aimed at easing congestion, boosting cargo capacity and cutting India’s logistics costs. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlights the Bilaspur-Katni corridor, which is being upgraded to four lines through Anuppur, one of the key railway junctions connecting traffic towards Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The projects are expected to unlock additional cargo capacity while supporting connectivity across aspirational districts. Vaishnaw says the expansion will also generate significant employment, deliver major logistics savings and reduce carbon emissions. He underlines the cost advantage of rail transport over highways and its environmental benefits, arguing that greater investment in railways is crucial to making Indian industry more competitive while advancing the country’s environmental goals. Watch the reel for the minister’s detailed railway expansion roadmap.
