The Supreme Court has proposed major reforms to improve vehicle insurance compliance across India. India Today's Aneesha Mathur explained that the court has suggested measures such as a "No Insurance, No Fuel" policy, automatic e-challans for uninsured vehicles using ANPR cameras, and better integration between IRDAI, the VAHAN portal, and police databases. It has also directed longer-term third-party and personal accident insurance at the time of vehicle purchase. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and IRDAI will study these proposals through pilot projects before wider implementation.
