Following a bruising electoral defeat in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress faces massive internal turmoil. A crucial strategy meeting at Kalighat was cancelled after 60 TMC MLAs skipped it, prompting Mamata to allege a BJP conspiracy. Adding to the crisis, the CID is investigating a signature forgery case involving a party letter to the Assembly secretariat, summoning MP Abhishek Banerjee. The TMC quickly expelled MLAs Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha, who flagged the fraud. With over 120 municipal councillors resigning and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar attending Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s meeting, Mamata's grip on the party appears under threat.
