TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lohati says consumer protection must remain the central focus as telecom companies adopt artificial intelligence. He stressed that AI deployment should not harm consumers and that telecom services must remain reliable and resilient amid growing digital risks. Lohati also addressed cybercrime, spam calls and data security, noting that cybercrime is a wider issue beyond telecom networks. On SATCOM, he said satellite communication will play an important complementary role in providing services to remote and difficult-to-reach areas. TRAI’s recommendations on SATCOM are already with the government.
