Tamil superstar-turned-politician Vijay’s political ambitions appear to be expanding beyond Tamil Nadu. Two TVK ministers have now publicly pitched him as a potential future Prime Minister. Tamil Nadu Minister D Sarathkumar called Vijay the “next Indian PM”, while PWD Minister Aadhav Arjuna argued that India’s next Prime Minister should emerge from the South. The remarks come nearly three decades after HD Deve Gowda became the last Prime Minister from southern India. With the 2029 Lok Sabha elections still some distance away, is TVK already laying the groundwork for a national role for Vijay?
