Tamil Nadu politics witnessed a dramatic twist after Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin was arrested over remarks allegedly carrying a sexual innuendo targeting actor Trisha Krishnan. An FIR was filed within hours of his speech at a protest rally in Thanjavur. Police later reached his Chennai residence with a warrant before taking him into custody. Udhayanidhi denied making any comment on Trisha and accused Chief Minister Joseph Vijay of political vendetta. The arrest triggered protests by the DMK and counter-protests by the TVK. The Madras High Court later directed police to release Udhayanidhi after questioning.
